Today marks 60 years since the 1962 Belgian Grand Prix, held at held at Spa-Francorchamps. It was held over 32 laps of the compact 14.1 km circuit for a race distance of just over 280 miles.
Both BRM cars had been corrected after Monaco – in Graham Hill’s car, there was a new engine after the Monaco blow-up, but with low-level exhaust system now, and Ginther had the new car with 6-speed Colotti gearbox and a redesigned bell-housing since Monaco.

According to the race report, the first twelve laps ‘were real Grand Prix racing, with no holds barred and an average speed of over 130mph’. The race was closely fought, with the cars spending large amount of times jostling between first, second, third, and fourth, but ended with Graham Hill taking second place on the podium.
