We’re thrilled to announce that pre-orders are open for our new coffee table book entitled ‘Racing for Britain’ to mark the 60th Anniversary of winning the Formula 1 Constructors Championship in 1962.
Written by award-winning author Ian Wagstaff and world-renowned motor sport historian, Doug Nye, edited by Gavin Green (former Editor of Car magazine) and James Page (former Editor of Classic & Sports Car magazine), ‘Racing for Britain’ has seen a remarkable team of motorsport experts and enthusiasts come together to tell this story.
Taken from BRM’s extensive motorsport archive of photographs, documents and artifacts, ‘Racing for Britain’ features more than 430 images (many never before seen), offering a unique look at BRM from the early post-war vision to the last factory backed car – the 1974 Motul Sponsored P201.
“As grandchildren of Sir Alfred Owen, we grew up around mesmerising tales of BRM racing and heroic attempts to conquer the world of motor racing. It has always been our ambition to create a stunning book which told the BRM story around unique images from our archive”, comments Simon Owen. “When we met Philip Porter at Retromobile back in 2020, it soon became apparent that Porter Press would be the ideal partner to make this project happen – and so began a two-year labour of love.”
Porter Press International is renowned for publishing top-quality motoring books, having already told the stories of the Ferrari 250 GTO, McLaren F1 GTR, and Porsche 956.
‘Racing for Britain’ sits as part of BRM’s ongoing celebration for the 60th anniversary of the team’s World Championship victory in 1962. The book is due to be published in spring 2022, and pre-orders have opened!
